Premier League giant Manchester City win race Congo-born midfielder Abemly Meto Silu known as Metinho, according to a report in Brazil.
The 17-year-old was born in Matadi, Democratic Republic of the Congo before his father Abel fled African nations to Brazil following religious persecution.
Metinho dad later settling in the Cinco Bocas favela in Brás de Pina, a neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro as he renamed his son, taking the diminutive form of his real name, Meto – a common tradition in Brazil.
Metinho is a product of the Fluminense academy which has produced the likes of Real Madrid legend Marcelo, Liverpool midfielder Fabinho and former Manchester United defenders Rafael and Fabio.
According to Brazilian outlet Globo claim that Congo born star is yet to make an appearance for Fluminense senior side but Manchester City won the race for the midfielder’s signature and his teammate Kayky ahead of Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer.
A report from Brazilian outlet suggests that Metinho will embark on loan to City Group’s Ligue 1 second-tier outfit Troyes, while his teammate Fluminense Kayky will go straight to Etihad Stadium.
