Injured Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen now has a possible return date going by the latest updates served by Napoli’s Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
There were initially slim hopes of having Osimhen back in action before the year 2020 runs out but Giuntoli has declared that the 21-year old will only be back in action by January 2021.
“Osimhen is still not well, we are waiting for him at the beginning of 2021,” Giuntoli to Sky Sport Italia.
“At what point of the month is he back? We are waiting for him at the beginning of January. I don’t know when he will come back, we will see in what conditions it will be, and we will evaluate”.
Osimhen suffered a shoulder injury while in action for the Super Eagles in the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
The gangling striker got one of the goals as the Eagles disappointedly battled to a 4-4 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on November 13.
Osimhen has since missed the Super Eagles return fixture against Sierra Leone in Freetown and Napoli’s last nine matches.
Gennaro Gatusso’s men have won just four of those games, losing 2-0 at Lazio again last weekend in the absence of their mercurial signing from French club, Lille
Napoli host Torino next on Wednesday, December 23 in their last match of 2020.
