According to The Telegraph reports that the news of Bartomeu resigned as president could lead to Messi extend his playing career with the Catalan club beyond the end of the 2020-21 season.

Messi joined some Barcelona players to criticise Bartomeu after the Argentinian tried to leave in August for Manchester City, citing a lack of direction at the club.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has scored two and three assists is preparing to face Juventus in the Champions League group stage.
