Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen and his Napoli teammates have been given the all-clear after their Covid-19 test came back negative, according to football-Italia.
In-form Napoli hammered Genoa 6-0 at the Stadio San Paolo to go top of the Serie A table but the victory was marred by the discovery of 14 new cases of Covid-19 from the opponent.
Interestingly, two Genoa players Mattia Perin and Lasse Schone were excluded from the match-day squad after testing positive to the deadly virus but further tests carried out on Monday found another 12 positive cases between squad and staff, reportedly including another eight or nine players.
According to reports, six Genoa players who tested positive on Monday had played against Napoli last weekend. Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen was involved for the full 90minutes of the encounter and it will be a huge relief for national team Coach, Gernot Rohr that he wasn’t affected.
Osimhen is expected to face Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus in Turin on Sunday before jetting out to join the Super Eagles for their friendlies against Algeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on October 9 and 13 respectively in Austria.
