Odion Ighalo fired blank as Manchester United beat Luton Town 3-0 at Kenilworth Road to fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Red Devils went into the game under pressure having tasted defeat in their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Saturday and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fielded a much-changed team, with Harry Maguire the only player to keep his place from that game.
There were full debuts handed to Dean Henderson and Donny van de Beek and both players impressed, with Henderson making a fine save in the second half while United led 1-0.
Juan Mata gave Manchester United that one-goal lead in the first half as he netted from the spot, but the visitors were made to wait until late in the game for their second and third goals, which were ultimately provided by Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood off the bench.
The victory means Manchester United will face either fellow Premier League side Brighton or Preston of the Championship in the next round.
