Barcelona new signing, Miralem Pjanic referred to the club’s talisman Lionel Messi, as an alien after he was unveiled at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.
The former Juventus midfielder is looking forward to playing alongside the Argentine.
“For me, looking at it from the outside, I couldn’t see him anywhere other than here,” he stated. “He is a huge player. There is always disappointment after a loss, but this is his home. It would have been difficult for me to see him in another shirt.
“He is the best player of all time, and it is very important that he is still with us. I haven’t known him for long. I have played with [Francesco] Totti, Cristiano [Ronaldo]… it is important for me to have these footballers beside me.
“They are very important players and for me they are an example. It will be unique to share a dressing room with an alien. But the whole group is important.”
The Bosnian midfielder, who will wear the No.8 shirt at Barcelona under new manager Ronald Koeman is looking forward to winning more titles with the club.
“To play here is a great honour,” he told the press. “It was a dream to play here. To be here is something extraordinary. I am very happy to have arrived. I am at the greatest team in the world and it is a great honour.
“As I entered the dressing room, I saw the history, the trophies … it’s a great opportunity for me. There are great players and I hope to help with my experience and football. Barcelona have been the benchmark for me and for football.”
Pjanic moved to Spain for around 65 million euros with Brazilian Arthur moving to Juventus in a unique swap deal.
