Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi is set for his first match this season for Everton when they host Salford City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old was snubbed by manager Carlo Ancelotti for the premier league opener against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday. New signing James Rodriguez was preferred on the right side of midfield and the Toffees went on to win 1-0.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin made the difference in the second half when he connected Lucas Digne’s flat left-wing free-kick with a thunderous header to snatch the win against Jose Mourinho’s men in London.
Ancelotti is expected to rest a lot of the players that started against Spurs with the likes of Iwobi and Theo Walcott given a run-out against Salford.
Iwobi made 25 Premier League appearances for Everton in his debut season and scored just once.
