Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti has resolved to retain out of favour Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi for another season at Goodison Park, tbrfootball can report.
Iwobi was surplus to requirements at the Merseyside last season after a big-money move from Arsenal as the Nigerian failed to add value to the club.
His poor form further raised doubts about his talents and prompted calls from the club’s ex-players to offload him, but latest feelers from Goodison reported that the Super Eagles’ midfielder won’t be sold.
Times gathered that Iwobi is not listed among seven players coach Ancelotti will be willing to accept offers for and the dreadlock midfielder will be given a second chance to prove his mettle.
The seven players that the Merseyside club are now prepared to sell are Theo Walcott, Bernard, Fabian Delph, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Yannick Bolasie, Sandro and Muhamed Besic.
The Toffees only bought Iwobi for £34m on transfer deadline day last summer only after they failed in their bid to secure the signing of Zaha, series of injuries mean little playing time, which eventually led to being pushed to firing line
He then managed two goals and provided one assist in 25 appearances during his debut campaign and this led to speculations that he could be sold to bring in Wilfred Zaha.
It remains to be seen how Iwobi intends to bounce back to winning ways and ensure Everton compete for honours in 2020/2021 football season.
