Manchester United may end their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho this summer, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has been heavily linked to the Old Trafford but his club is holding out on the £108m asking price despite the Covid-19 pandemic affecting profits of major teams around the world.
“If Jadon comes up to us and says he absolutely wants to leave – which has not been the case so far – and a club wants to pay what we want, then we will discuss it,” he told Sport1. “I don’t think a club will pay the sum. There is also no coronavirus discount on him. We have left the period where we had to sell players. I don’t think there will be a summer transfer.”
The Mirror reports that Manchester United are willing to wait until 2021 before returning for the England international. However, if both clubs could re-evaluate the deal before the end of the transfer window – Sancho may return to England.
Sancho scored 20 times with 20 assists from 44 appearances for Borussia Dortmund during the 2019-20 campaign and has a contract at Signal Iduna Park until June 2023.
