Premier League side, Manchester City are ready to beat Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to the signing of Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.
Barcelona looked favorite to sign the forward after Lionel Messi requested for his signature but the Catalans were unwilling to match the Nerazzurri’s valuation of the player.
With situations appearing that the 23-year-old will spend another season at San Siro, the Cityzens have moved in quickly to ahead of PSG in the chase for Lautaro’s services ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
According to The Sun, Manchester City are willing to pay £81m, providing that they are able to make at least one significant sale during the current transfer window. Gabriel Jesus looks likely to be the one to make way in the City squad, neither as part of the deal to take Lautaro or an alright sale.
Martinez scored 21 goals for the Serie A and Europa League runners-up in all competitions and Pep Guardiola views him as a good replacement for Sergio Aguero, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in 2021.
