Ronald Koeman is set to axe six Barcelona first-team players when he takes charge of the Camp Nou team in the coming days.

Koeman is expected to ditch his role as the manager of Netherlands and take over Barcelona coaching job and replaced sacked Quique Setien.

Barcelona failed to win a silverware in the concluded season and they were eliminated embarrassingly against Bayern Munich, where they suffered 8-2 defeat in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The former Barcelona captain is charged with the duty of turning things around at the Camp Nou and he has planned a summer clear-out and the likes of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique are all tipped to leave this summer.

Koeman will inject new faces into the squad and will give responsibility to Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann, both of whom have struggled this season after their big-money moves to Barcelona last summer.

Paris Saint-Germain is heavily linked with Chile midfielder Vidal and Sevilla is monitoring the Rakitic’s situation as they aim to re-sign him.
Umtiti could make a switch to Serie A or the Premier League.
