Still basking in the euphoria of the club’s excellent start to the season, Glasgow Rangers fans have continued to shower encomiums on Leon Balogun for his sterling performance against St Johnstone.
Rangers sit atop the Scottish Premier League table on goal difference after a resounding 3-0 win over St Johnstone on Wednesday night with goals coming from Borna Barisic and compatriots Joe Aribo.
But Hitc.com reported that tributes have been pouring in for the former Brighton and Mainz center-back after he orchestrated a watertight defense to keep a clean sheet in the midweek clash.
Balogun put up a good show in the first half of the encounter but was later replaced by Filip Helander after the towering defender felt awkwardly before halftime.
Meanwhile, coach Steven Gerard hopes the Nigerian will be okay for the weekend’s clash after he picked up a knock against St Johnstone.
“I think Balogun has a tight quad and we’ll get that looked at it
“He is definitely a concern for the weekend but we have real strong options in that area. Fil came on and played like an international player with experience.
“Hopefully it’s not a bad one. Leon walked past me earlier so I don’t think it’s anything major.” Gerard told Glasgow Times.
