Gerard Piqué says he is ashamed after Barcelona suffered an 8-2 hammering by Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
The match which was played in Lisbon in an empty stadium due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Barcelona entered the match with a record of 13th successive quarter-final appearances but the Bavarians totally took the one-leg tie with exceptional ease.
Speaking after the match, Piqué said: “Shame is the word. We cannot compete like this. We cannot do well in Europe. It is neither the 1st, nor the 2nd, nor the 3rd time. I hope it serves something. The club needs changes.”

The former Manchester United defender has offered to leave the club with immediate effect if the club desires so.
Piqué added: “I am the first to offer myself to leave Barça if new blood is to come. We all have to think about what’s best for Barça.”
Barcelona have been eliminated from this stage of the competition in three consecutive seasons by AS Roma, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
