The Stamford Bridge outfit is keen on strengthening their defensive line ahead of the coming season, considering the fact that they are the team that conceded the most goals in the teams that finished in the top ten in the Premier League in the just-concluded season.

The report in the Mirror claims Chelsea is prepared to offer a fee in the region of 22m for the former Everton defender.

Manager Frank Lampard is also interested in strengthening the left-back position with Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri short of his standard, the likes of Sergio Reguilon, Alex Telles and Ben Chilwell are all being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming season.
