Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel has no grudge against his former Turkish club and he has congratulated Trabzonspor for winning the Turkish Cup for the 2019/20 season.

Though Mikel could have been part of the victory party if things had not gone sour between him and the management of the Turkish side, he still shares in the successes of the club as exhibited in his congratulatory message.

Though Mikel was missing, his compatriot, Anthony Nwakaeme was an unused substitute as Trabzonspor ended their 10-year trophy wait by beating Alanyaspor in the Turkish Cup final on Wednesday.

A goal in each half from Abdulkadir Omur and Alexander Sorloth in the 25th and 90th minutes respectively helped Trabzonspor to secure a  heartwarming 2-0 win over Alanyaspor.

On the heels of this win, Mikel 33 posted on his verified Instagram handle: “Congratulations, Trabzonspor on winning the Cup final. well done, boys and the city deserve it”

The last time Trabzonspor won silverware was in 2010 when they won both the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup.

Mikel is still unattached despite being linked with a few clubs including a possible return to Trabzonspor where the former Chelsea star is still highly regarded especially among fans.
