Top Italian agent Sabatino Durante has criticised the figures that sum up the recent purchase of Victor Osimhen from Lille to Serie A giants Napoli.
In an interview with Mars Sport Live on Monday evening, Durante hinged his submission on the fact that Osimhen is in his developmental stage and not a finished talent yet.
“I have known him for at least five years. He is a player who reminds me of Duvan Zapata, he needs space to operate and will have to grow a lot from a tactical point of view,” he said.
The Italian stressed that the former Lille towering striker will require much time to adapt to the demands and rigours of Serie A.
Durante then described the 60 million purchase of Osimhen as absurd, adding that such huge amount should have been spent on a striker who is regarded as a finished product because of long years of professional experience.
“Osimhen will need a long period of adaptation. The amount spent by Naples seems absurd to me: we are talking about 60 million euros!
“I just hope there was no propaganda behind this purchase. He is not yet a champion, but he has a profile that can become such. Osimhen went to Wolfsburg, then played for Charleroi in Belgium and Lille. He has a year and a half of professionalism in a championship like the French Ligue 1, which is not one of the toughest league in Europe.
Mauro Icardi was sold for 50 million euros! Something is wrong with Italian clubs. ” Durante concluded.
