Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrard has expressed his delight over the signing Super Eagles centre back Leon Balogun on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.
The Liverpool legend told daily record that Balogun’s wealth of experience would be of valuable benefit to the younger defenders at the club.
“I am pleased to secure the signature of Leon. He is an experienced centre half who will add strength and depth to our squad.
“His experience in the Premier League as well as his international pedigree strengthens our squad and will assist in the development of our young defenders.

Balogun played for Brighton and Hove Albion but struggled to make it into the first team of the Premier League side.He has also played for Bundesliga sides Hannover, Werder Bremen and Mainz.
Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson also revealed that Balogun was signed shortly after the injury to Nikola Katic that left the Light Blues short on defenders.
He said: “We quickly targeted Leon after adapting our transfer plan when Niko Katic suffered an injury a few weeks ago.
The stopper was available after a short term deal he signed to see out the season with loan club Wigan expired.
