Former Nigeria U20 striker Jerome Akor to miss three months of football due to back injury he suffered from his Norwegian club Sogndal.

The striker who was part of Flying Eagles squad that featured in last year’s FIFAU20 World Cup in Poland when Nigeria reach the last 16 after 2-1 lost against Senegal.


Akor will now miss most of the season with Norwegian First Division with Sogndal after it was discovered that he has a back problem that will sideline him for at least three months.

Sogndal coach Eirik Bakke told the club’s website: “With Akor out, we lose an important player, so this is very difficult both for the team and not least the boy himself,”

The Nigerian striker has said he will remain positive.: “Now I have to be positive and do what physio.

“It is tough both for me and for the group, but it is good that we found out early on what was wrong.”

Injury has hampered Akor last season after featuring 12 times for Sogndal and three goals to his name.
