Barcelona attacker Luis Suarez has advised his teammates to shun excuses and step up their game ahead of the coming fixtures this season.

Real Madrid is controlling the proceeding in the domestic scene and Suarez believes that the Catalan can put up a convincing show in the Champions League.

“We have to be critical of ourselves,” Suarez told Mundo Deportivo.
“We let it [the title] escape us.

“We’re aware that that’s on us and we’re not looking for any excuses.
“Now, for the pride of Barcelona, we have to win the two games that are left and then focus on the Champions League, which we can fight for.

“If we play to the level we can, we can take on anyone, but failing in one game can be costly, so we have to be vigilant.”

The Uruguayan continued to call for more performances like the one the Catalans put in against Villarreal.

“When we have to fight for important things, like the Champions League, we have to do what we did against Villarreal,” Suarez added.
“If we’re at 150 percent, we can do it.

“The game against Villarreal was a message. If we want to do it, we can do it.”
Although Gerard Pique and Josep Maria Bartomeu have been critical of VAR’s part in Real Madrid being awarded a number of decisive penalties, Suarez is keen to focus on internal issues.

“Gerard and the president made their comments publicly,” Suarez said, “but I think our rivals were playing against big teams like Athletic [Club] and Getafe.
“They were the ones who were harmed, not just us.

“But we shouldn’t look for excuses. It’s better [for us] to be self-critical and face reality.”
Barcelona will take on Osasuna on Thursday evening.
