Erstwhile Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has described Osimhen form as “top-notch” and hope that Napoli’s desperation to sign up the Lille striker won’t put the young man under undue pressure.
Sodje said he is also impressed that the former Charleroi forward had hit the ground running since moving to France in 2019 on a five-year contract for a reported €12 million, scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 27 Ligue 1 games.
Osimhen’s performances have sparked speculation of a potential move away from Lille with clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal longing to cash in on the star but Napoli now lead the race to sign him.

In an exclusive chat with FCNaija, the former Brentford and Charlton Athletic star said he wants to see Osimhen properly managed and further hailed the ex-Golden Eaglets star for being cautious before deciding his next destination.
The ex-Portsmouth and Notts County FC defender, however, urged Osimhen to decide his future, adding that such a step will help take the pressure off his shoulder.

” I think Osimhen will have a great career and score goals wherever he goes but it’s great he is taking his time to weigh his option.
” I think he should make it asap to take the pressure off his shoulder, said Sodje.

It was believed that Napoli had already reached an agreement with Osimhen’s club OSC Lille for a reported €70m fee. Later on, it was claimed that Osimhen did not want to move to Italy because of the country’s racism problem.
