Barcelona has turned to Premier League club Watford for reinforcement as they aim to strengthen their defence in the coming season.
Pervis Estupinan is on loan with Osasuna and his performance has impressed Barcelona scouts in the current campaign, many in the Barcelona board has seen Ecuador defender as a better option than Junior Firpo at the left-back position.
The report suggested that Barcelona would buy Estupinan and loan him to Real Valladolid for next season for the 22-year-old defender to gain experience and develop as one of the best players in the division.
He would then be brought back to Barca to eventually succeed Jordi Alba as the club’s prime left-back in the foreseen future.
Barcelona has made few signings to offer competition to Alba at the left-back but no headway has been made to that effect.
