Heung Min-Son capitalised on a poor back pass to David Luiz and beat the goalkeeper to put the ball into an empty net in the 19th minute of the match.
Ben Davies almost scored the second for Arsenal but his effort was denied by the cross ball after the defender unleashed a powerful shot from a long-range.
The first half ended 1-1 as both teams headed into the dressing room after the first 45 minutes at Tottenham Stadium.
