Mainz gaffer Rouven Schroder hopes EPL champions Liverpool will once again release Taiwo Awoniyi to the German side as the club aim to consolidate on its survival next season.
Although Schroder plans to trim down the squad ahead of summer pre-season, he assured that Awoniyi remains one of the few untouchables in the club and will be willing to buy the towering striker if the price is right.

The 22-year-old striker who has since returned to Liverpool since July 1 played a vital role in the club’s quest to stay afloat last season.
“Taiwo is also a symbol of identification, although he was not a permanent member of the club. He raised his game most times and that explains what the players can do for the club.
“It simply shows that he is a professional to the core. Even when he is not selected for matches due to intense competition in squad selection,  he still give his best in every training session. We told him that we were very happy with him, ” Schröder told Kicker
The SV Mainz 05 striker, escaped death by the whiskers after suffering a concussion in a Bundesliga clash against Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai month. The Nigerian was taken off on a stretcher and immediately taken to hospital after a clash of heads and nasty fall.
Medics had put Awoniyi’s neck in a brace as they attended to him, with the match delayed for several minutes before he left the field.
With the match taking place behind closed doors, the stadium public address system played applause for Awoniyi as he was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.  He has since returned to full fitness.
