Leicester Boss Brendan Rodgers has stated in clear terms that Kelechi Iheanacho newly found form won’t stop the club’s plan to sign on new strikers in the summer.
In a chat with journalists during Monday’ pre-match press conference via Zoom call, Rodgers admitted that although Iheanacho is beginning to regain the form that made him one of the sought after young striker in England, but maintained that Leicester are looking to buy another striker in the summer.
“It’s something we’ll look at. Kelechi has done brilliantly. He needed confidence. As he’s gained that, you’ve seen his strengths. He’s scored goals.
“He loves his football. We are looking currently because each season you want to improve.” Rodger told lcfc.
Iheanacho has scored 10 goals while producing four assists in 22 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes.
Leicester City signed the striker from Manchester City for a reported £25m . Iheanacho had signed a new contract with City until 2021 at the beginning of last season but saw his first-team opportunities curtailed by the arrival of the Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus in January.
The academy product still made nine starts and 21 substitute appearances for Pep Guardiola’s team last term, scoring nine goals. In total he scored 21 goals in 64 games in all competitions since making his debut for City in 2015.
