Chelsea is set to battle Real Madrid for Ligue 1 defender Gabriel Magalhaes, according to report.
The Blues are keen on signing a centre back ahead of the coming season but the Stamford Bridge outfit face a huge competition from Real Madrid for the services of the power playing Brazilian defender.
Fellow Chelsea Premier League rivals Everton was primed for the signing of the Lille defender and it seems the Goodison Park team was about to complete the deal with the Ligue 1 powerhouse was also reported to have passed a medical at Goodison Park, with the deal looking like a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’.
With the recent development in his move to Everton, Real Madrid and Chelsea have emerged as the new suitors as both teams are prepared to go toe to toe for the services of the defender.
Magalhaes wants to play for a team that competes for titles and the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid fit his ambition but he could see his playing time limited in both clubs especially if he decides to join Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Though Real Madrid is planning for life with their captain Sergio Ramos as they aim to bring in young lads to learn the ropes. Magalhaes, 23, could likely join his fellow Brazilian compatriot Eder Militao on the Santiago Bernabeu bench if he signs for Real Madrid.
