Odion Ighalo scores four goals in his first three start as Manchester United beat LASK 5-0 in the first leg of the last 16 of the Europa League encounter at Raiffeisen Arena on Thursday night.
Former Nigeria international opening the scoring with a screamer in the 28th minute when he controlled a Bruno Fernandes pass and did a number of keepy-uppies, before volleying a wicked effort at goal.
The ball crashed off the crossbar and into the net, leaving LASK goalkeeper Alexander Schlager helpless.
Shortly after the break, Daniel James doubled Manchester United’s lead with effort wasn’t quite as good as Ighalo’s, but the winger did well to cut inside and fire the ball into the bottom corner.
The relief was clear to see as James ran towards his teammates and let out a huge shout.
At 2-0 Man United were cruising and controlled the last half an hour before scoring twice more late on.
Fred picked out Juan Mata with a sublime pass and the Spaniard finished well from inside the box to make it 3-0, before Mason Greenwood smashed in a fourth.
Andreas Pereira then made it 5-0, taking a pot-shot from long-range that really should have been saved by the goalkeeper.
The Red Devils now take a clear advantage into the second leg at Old Trafford and it’s hard to see them slipping up next week.
