Atletico Madrid scored three extra time goals to elimate Liverpool from the Champions League round of 16 at Anfield as Diego Simeone’s men earn a 3-2 victory over the defending Champions on Wednesday evening.

With the result Atletico Madrid progressed to the quarter-finals on 4-2 aggregate.

Liverpool attacked Atletico Madrid from the start of the game as the Spanish team opted for defensive approach to the game.

The home team finally broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute after Georginio Wijnaldum jumped high to connect a cross frpm Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to beat Jan Oblak with just two minutes to end the first half.

The first half ended 1-0 in the favour of the home team.

Liverpool continue the quest to get the second goal in the second half with Diego Simeone’s men being choked up by Liverpool all attacking football style.

Liverpool controlled larger percent of the game as Atletico Madrid players all sit behind the ball.
The normal regulation time ended 1-0 and the game went on to extra time, with Roberto Firmino soring the second goal for Liverpool and after three minutes Aletico Madrid responded via Marcos Llorente after Joao Felix squares the ball to the spanish midfielder.

Llorente got another goal again to make it a brace and in the last minute of the clash Koke released Alavaro Morata to make it 3-2 against the host.

As Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League as Atletico Madrid defeated the Reds home and away and on agreegate 4-2 to advance to the quarter finals.
