Former Golden Eaglets invitee Ifunanyachi Achara has reacted after scoring match-winner and clinch Man of Match award on his debut for new club as Toronto FC pipped New York City FC to a 1-0 win in the Major League Soccer encounter at BMO Field.
The 22-year-old forward who joined the Canadian club from USL League Two side Black Rock FC in just a week before the 2020 season kicked off played his first MLS match on Saturday and was on parade from start to finish.
An NYCFC giveaway started the counter-attack when Alejandro Pozuelo swept the ball wide to Richie Laryea whose cross deflected off defender Ronald Mataritta to the far corner of the goal where Achara rose high to head it in in the 81st minute.
The Enugu-born star enjoyed a stellar preseason, with three goals in four matches took to his social media to celebrate his first league goal for new club and named Man of the Match.
A dream debut and an incredible team performance. The support from the fans and the energy around the stadium was second to none. We still have a lot to work on but most importantly we got all 3 points.💪🏾 THEY SAW RED!! 😤 https://t.co/mbWMusfwRG

The crucial goal secured Toronto’s first win of the season after they settled for a 2-2 draw against San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday in their opening fixture.
Toronto FC are fourth in the Eastern Conference table after gathering four points from two games. They host Nashville SC next on March 14.
