Alexandre Lacazette scores again as Arsenal beat Olympiakos 1-0 in the Europa League last-32 at Karaiskaki Stadium on Thursday night.

The French striker went nine games without a goal before scoring against Newcastle on Sunday where he converts from close range in the 81st minute after Bukayo Saka had latched onto Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s pass and sent the ball across the six-yard box.

The Greek side’s best chance had come five minutes before the lone goal when Bernd Leno failed to manage Mathieu Valbuena’s well-struck free-kick but was able to pounce on Youssef El Arabi’s second effort.

Lacazette’s goal made up for an earlier inexplicable miss when the Frenchman somehow shot wide from about eight yards having a solid build-up by Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners still take a lead back to the Emirates Stadium, though, extending their unbeaten run to nine games under Mikel Arteta, and they will be confident of reaching the next round of the Europa League when they welcome Olympiakos to the Emirates Stadium for next week’s second leg.
