Manchester City smashed West Ham 5-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.

Manchester City recorded a 5-0 win over West Ham in the third-round of the FA Cup on Friday.

Goals by Yaya Toure, David Silva, Sergio Aguero, John Stones and an own goal by Nortdveit, ensured City secured passage to the next round of the competition.

First Half

This stage of the FA Cup usually see teams - especially the Premier League sides - rest their star names and play the kids, but that wasn't the case here at the Olympic Stadium.

Both Slaven Bilic and Pep Guardiola put out strong enough teams as they went for it, and it was evident in the way they approached the game from the off.

However, it was City who looked more comfortable on the night, and it was no surprise when they went ahead in the 33rd minute.

West Ham conceded a foul inside their own 18-yard box, and the referee promptly pointed to the spot. Yaya Toure stepped up to convert, and give Guardiola's men the perfect start.

City would double their lead eight minutes later, when Nortdveit played the ball into his own net for an own goal and just before the half time break, Silva scored to put City on cruise control.

Second Half

The Hammers showed a bit more drive in this period, but City still had the edge, especially with their three-goal cushion.

Bilic made changes, introducing Dimitri Payer and Mark Noble as he sought to give his side more attacking edge, but not before Agueeo had scored the fourth for City.

Tried as they did, there was no putting the ball past Willy Caballero in goal for the Sky Blues.

Just coming off a defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League, West Ham would have hoped to fare better against their blue side of Manchester, but it wasn't to be, as Guardiola's men were just too good for them on the night, as Stones completed the rout.
