Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has broken La Liga record for the red cards when he got his marching orders against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
Ramos was sent off when he was booked for the second time for elbowing Bilbao attacker Adrian Adruiz.
The captain’s red card against Bilbao was his 19th in the La Liga, which placed him ahead of Pablo Alfaro and Xavi Aguado both who were dismissed on 18 occasions.

Ramos’ Red card on Saturday night was his 24th red card of his career, Fernando Hierro is the closest with 12 red cards, Ramos has doubled the legend with his red card against Bilbao in San Mames.
The former Sevilla defender joined Real Madrid in 2005/06, he has only gone a season with a red card since his arrival at the capital.
His first season with the club was his worst as he was dismissed four times.
