Cristiano Ronaldo has reacted to FIFA Award snub after arch-rival Lionel Messi received his sixth Best Men’s Player award on Monday in Milan night.

The 34-year-old forward came third in the list after a finished behind Barcelona talisman and Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk, despite helping Juventus claim yet another Serie A title and lifting the United Nations League trophy with Portugal.

Ronaldo has taken to his social media as he offered a cryptic response following his decision to skip the FIFA awards ceremony where long-time rival Lionel Messi was named the Best Men’s Player.

"Patience and persistence are two characteristics that differentiate the professional from the amateur,” he wrote.

"Everything that is big today has started small. You can’t do everything, but do everything you can to make your dreams come true.

"And keep in mind that after night always comes dawn.”

Ronaldo last won the Best FIFA Men’s Player award in 2017 but the Portuguese have managed two goals in five games this season for Juventus, who are second to Inter in the Serie A table.
