Real 0-3 Barca: Tactical review of the El-Clasico - FCNaija

La Liga By: Iseghohi Odianosen | 24/12/2017

Barcelona  emerged the better side of match after they humbled the La Liga and the World Club Cup champions with a stunning 3-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday afternoon.

With the Result Barcelona established a major dominant in the Spanish top flight above other teams including their arch rivals Real Madrid who was humiliated on their on turf in their last meeting.

What actually made Real Madrid lost the El-Clasico to Barcelona:

Dani Carvajal and Marcelo:

The full backs Dani Carvajal and Marcelo are both attacking minded defenders and left some space at the back line once they overlap, the pair troubled Barcelona in the entire first half with their runs down the flanks and their cross into the box for Real attackers.

Barcelona remained composed:

The visitors were not playing under pressure the remained composed even when they seems not to be getting their rhythm in the first half, The Camp nou outfit was faithful to their plan and remained determined about their game plan.

They were able to soak up pressure from Real Madrid attacking play for the entire 90 minutes.

It was strange to see their defence, in the main, play as a rigid, solid back four. Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba stuck to their positions as much as possible. The only time this really changed was on the counter which create no room for Real Madrid mobile defenders

Barcelona nullified Real Madrid threat:

Barcelona was not doing the scoring all alone they were able to nullify Real Madrid major threat which is their counter attack, once they allow Real Madrid to successful operate their counter attacking move Barcelona will be on the receiving end.

The visitor’s midfield did an excellent job dealing with the counter attack as Real Madrid were let building upon it and no one of the counter was executed successfully.

Real Madrid exhibited poor defending:

Real Madrid defenders are offensive in nature from the wing backs to the full backs, Raphael Varane also struggled all day to cope with the intensity of the game, He was slow and appeared to be match rusty.

Dani Carvajal was too over ambitious that saw he caught off guard most of the time, no wonder he redefined his role to that of a goalkeeper that saw he handed the ball intentionally when he team was already 1-0 down.

Though, his sent off was the major turning point for Barcelona, who made Real Madrid to chase the ball for the greater part of second half.

Barcelona shows dominant yet again and it seems Real Madrid had throw in the towel as far as this season La Liga is concerned.
