Manchester United return to Group L Europa League action on Thursday evening as they travel to Serbian to take on Partizan Belgrade having earned a morale-boosting point against Premier League leaders Liverpool at the weekend.

The home side sit 5th in the Serbian Super Liga table after a back of two consecutive defeats in the league, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men draw Reds to a 1-1 which lift the Red Devils to 14th place with 10 points after nine games played in the Premier League.

Team News

Partizan boss Savo Milosevic may be tempted to tinker with his line-up after the weekend defeat to Mladost Lucani in the Serbian Super League but former Liverpool midfielder Lazar Markovic is the only long-term injury absentee and he isn’t expected to return until the new year.

Paul Pogba remains sidelined with an ankle problem, while Luke Shaw and Nemanja Matic have both been sent to undergo rehab in Dubai but Diogo Dalot, Axel Tuanzebe and Jesse Lingard missed the draw with Liverpool and are doubts for Thursday encounter, while Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah remain long-term casualties.

Head to Head

Both side have meet on two occasions back to the year England won their only FIFA World Cup till date is in 1966 in the semi-final of the then European Cup, with Partizan edging past the Red Devils 2-1 on aggregate.

After a 2-0 victory at home set the tie-up nicely for the Serbians, with Manchester United's 1-0 success at Old Trafford not enough to overturn the deficit.

Recent Form

Partizan could provide a stiff challenge, even though they have lost their last two games in the league. A romping 6-0 success over Vodoja┼ża in the Serbian Cup will have lifted spirits, though, and with United's reputation diminishing, they may fancy their chances of causing an upset.

The Red Devils have endured a miserable start to the season, highlighted by the fact that they have just once in their last five games which is against lowly Rochdale in the Carabao Cup and, worse still, was only achieved in a penalty shootout.

Partizan possible starting lineup: Stojkovic; Miletic, Ostojic, Pavlovic, Urosevic; Natkho, Zdjelar; Asano, Soumah, Tosic; Umar

Manchester United possible starting lineup: Romero; Young, Rojo, Jones, Wan-Bissaka; McTominay, Fred, Pereira; Mata, James, Martial

Scoreline prediction: Partizan Belgrade 1-1 Man Utd
