Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi set a new Copa del Rey record on Saturday as the Catalans battle Sevilla at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium on Saturday for the King's Cup trophy.

Messi became the second player to ever score in five Copa del Rey finals after netting Barcelona's second in the opening period of the Cup final.

The goal was Messi's 15th goal in 18 finals for Barcelona (not including two-legged Spanish Super Cups). He has now scored in 11 of the previous 17 - and they've won all 11.

The Argentine also holds the record of scoring more goals against Sevilla than any other team - 31 in 34.
