Manchester United target Ivan Rakitic has ruled out a move to Old Trafford after his family rejected the advances from the Premier League giants.

Manchester United has been following the situation surrounding Rakitic future in Barcelona and they are keen on signing the Croatia star this winter with the midfielder considering his future at Old Trafford.

Rakitic is fed up with his bench role at Camp Nou - having made six of his seven appearances from the bench this campaign despite being a regular under Ernesto Valverde last season.

The former Sevilla star has dropped in the pecking order under Valverde, he is behind Frankie de Jong, Sergio Busquets and Arthur Melo since the turn of the season.

Manchester United is willing to offer an escape route but Rakitic’s family is not interested in a move to Manchester and if his situation does not change he would consider a move to Paris, Milan or a location with warmer climes than Manchester.

Manchester United has also drawn up similar options to Rakitic, Newcastle's Sean Longstaff, Leicester midfielder James Maddison and Juventus' Emre Can are now among the options for United once they fail to land the 31-year-old star from Barcelona.
