Manchester United have officially submitted a £35m opening bid for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.
The 22-year-old French striker joined Ligue 1 outfit from Celtic last summer and went on to enjoy a profitable season after registering 20 goals and six assists in all competitions, helping his side to the Champions League knockout rounds and a third-place finish in the league.
According to L'Equipe report that Manchester United have been monitoring Dembele's recent progress and are interesting in bringing over to Old Trafford this summer and the Premier League giant have made an offered Lyon a sum of £35m to Pontoise-born.
The report also claims that former Red Devils striker, and current club ambassador, Eric Cantona, 'greatly appreciates' Dembele's talents and will be looking to personally push for his recruitment to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side this summer.
Dembele still has four years remaining on the deal he signed with Lyon last summer.
