Manchester City will seek to return to winning ways when they entertain Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium after their heavy defeat to Liverpool before the break.

TEAM NEWS:

MANCHESTER CITY:

The Premier League champions will be without Bernardo Silva, with the Portuguese maestro serving a one-match ban for his cryptic post on social media.

Goalkeeper Ederson could make a return after a muscle injury, while Benjamin Mendy is likely to get the nod over Angelo at the left-back.

America Laporte and Leroy Sane are long term absentees due to knee injury, Oleksandr Zinchenko will also miss the clash against Chelsea.

CHELSEA:

Frank Lampard will miss the services of Antonio Rudiger, Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek due to injuries when they face Manchester City in their next Premier League game while Christian Pulisic is doubtful for the clash.

HEAD TO HEAD:

The clash on Saturday will represent the 164th competitive encounter between the two clubs, with Chelsea having recorded 67 wins in comparison to 56 victories for City.

However, Guardiola's side has registered four wins and clean sheets in six outings against Chelsea, while also getting the better of the Blues on penalties in last season's EFL Cup final after a goalless draw.

Nevertheless, the west Londoners did prevail by a 2-0 scoreline when the teams met at Stamford Bridge last December.

Chelsea won all their last five Premier League games, but in the League Cup, they suffered a defeat to Manchester United and drew against Ajax in the Champions League.
