Liverpool 0-0 Bayern: Reds held at Anfield

Liverpool was held at home by Bayern Munich to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the Champions League as both teams will wait for the return leg to settle scores.

Liverpool pushed for a goal from the start of the game as they aim to get the game rolling at the opening minute, but Bayern Munich ensured their game plan is forced to dominate Liverpool tactics.

Mohammed Salah got the first chance but he was unable to get a contact with the ball, Bayern Munich delivered a cross into Liverpool box but Robert Lewandowski's attempt was direct to Allison Beck's body.

Salah had a free-header but the attempt was off target in the 24th minute

Becker was almost caught unaware as he delayed a ball he ought to have released on time. Joshua Kimmich was shown a yellow card for a rough challenge on Sadio Mane in the 27th minute.

Mane was close to giving Liverpool the lead but his effort went off inches off the post after a poor defending from Bayern Munich..

The game remained a well-contested game between the two sides as the first half ended goalless in the opening 45 minutes.

Bayern Munich aim to get an away goal in the second half as they pushed out leaving space in their defence as Liverpool explored the space left behind by the away team.

Long range shot from Serge Gnarby narrowly went off the mark as Becker was no way near the shot in the 59th minute.

Liverpool had some decent chances but they were unable to capitalize on their chance, Gnarby Keita was substituted for James Milner in the 75th minute.

Niko Kovac brought in Franck Ribery for Kimmich with nine minutes to go. Renato Sanchez was thrown in for James Rodriguez with three minutes remaining.
