La Liga By: Ikponmwosa Umweni | 22/11/2019

La Liga leaders Barcelona visit the division's bottom club this weekend when they travel to the Estadio Butarque to face Leganes.

Ernesto Valverde's side lost 3-1 at Levante in their last away game and quickly rectified this with a confidence-boosting 4-1 victory at home to Celta Vigo just before the international break which took them to the top of the pile.

Leganes were bottom of the table and Barcelona were top when they met last year but the Madrid outfit came from behind to record a famous 2-1 win and ended the season in 13th place, their highest ever top-flight finish.

Team News

The home side will be without central midfielder Recio and loanee Kevin Rodrigues through suspension, while Marc Navarro is still recovering from a torn tendon but Alexander Szymanowski is out for the season with torn cruciate ligaments and Ruben Perez remains a doubt.

Nelson Semedo is out with a calf problem while fellow right-back Sergi Roberto is suspended for Barcelona, meaning that there could be a start for Senegal international Moussa Wague at the back.

Jordi Alba is out for the weekend’s fixture with a hamstring problem, meaning that Junior Firpo is set to feature at left-back but Ivan Rakitic remains could also miss out with an Achilles issue, but the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Antoine Griezmann are all fit and should start as the front free despite the presence of Ousmane Dembele.

Head to Head

Barcelona have definitely had the better of the two teams in recent meetings with five victory of the last six meetings but last season both shared a victory each. In January this year, the Catalan outfit secured a 3-1 win at home to rectify a shock 2-1 defeat away at Leganes.

Recent Form

Leganes have won just one of their last five games and suffered three defeats, including a thumping 5-0 defeat by Real Madrid but they did most recently managed to hold Real Sociedad to a 1-1 draw with ten men as they currently sit rock bottom of La Liga.

Barcelona, meanwhile, head to Leganes in impressive form with three wins in their last five and sit top of La Liga on goal difference including an impressive 5-1 victory against Real Valladolid but they did suffer a shock defeat to Levante.

Leganes Predicted Line-ups (5-3-2): Cuellar – Silva, Siovas, Omeruo, Bustinza, Rosales – Oscar, Mesa, Eraso – Braithwaite, En Nesyri.

Barca Predicted Line-ups (4-3-3): Ter Stegen – Junior, Lenglet, Pique, Wague – De Jong, Busquets, Arthur – Griezmann, Suarez, Messi.
