LA LIGA WeeK 32 ROUNDUP: Atletico close ground on Barca

Atletico Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 2-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday to close the close gap on the La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann scored in the 42nd minute and Alvaro Morata scored in the 74th minute to stop resurgent Celta Vigo who is fighting to escape relegation this season.

Diego Simeone's men are just nine points behind Barcelona with just six games to end the campaign.

Huesca held Barcelona to a goalless draw at the Estadio El Alcoraz on Saturday, the result means anything can happen in the relegation zone as the Leo Franco’s men aim to escape the relegation zone.

Villarreal moved out of the relegation zone with a win over Girona, with Nigerian sensational Samuel Chukwueze scoring the only goal of the clash in the 7th minute to give the visitors the win at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi.

Valencia won the local derby against Levante 3-1 at Estadio Mestalla, Santi Mina scored twice and Gonzalo Guedes also found the back of the net to cap a good game for the home team.

Carlos Soler scored an own goal but the goals Mina and Guedes were enough to bag the three points for the Bats.

Sevilla moved to the fourth place on the La Liga log with a 3-2 win over Real Betis in their local derby. Munir opened the floodgate in the 26th minute for Sevilla Lo Celso equalised in the 55th minute, Pablo Sarabia and Vazquez doubled the lead with just eight minutes remaining Cristian Tello scored the second goal for Real Betis.

Getafe lost the chance to hold on to the fourth spot after they drew against Real Valladolid at the Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla.

Mauro Arambarri put Getafe ahead in the 14th minute but it was cancelled out by Sergio Guardiola in the 30th minute before Enes Unal put the home team ahead in the 69th minute and in the additional time Jorge Molina restored parity to level the game. 2-2 final score as Sevilla overtook the Getafe in the top four spot.

Athletic Bilbao defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-2, Real Madrid will take a trip to Leganes on Monday to face the Madrid based team.
