LA LIGA WeeK 27 ROUND-UP: Barca, Real & Atletico win

The Spanish top teams recorded victories in their respective matches this weekend.

Barcelona defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-1 at the Camp Nou, the away team went ahead to score the opening goal in the 24th minute following a Raul de Tomas goal, Gerard Pique equalised for the home team just 14 minutes later and in the second half Lionel Messi scored from the penalty spot and Luis Suarez put the game to bed in the 82nd minute to bag another three points for the La Liga Champions.

The match ended 3-1 in favour of Barcelona.

Atletico Madrid played a local derby with Leganes at the Wanda Metropolitano, Diego Simeone’s men won the clash 1-0 through Saul in the 50th minute after a 0-0 first half.

Real Madrid survived a scare against Real Valladolid at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla Municipal after the home team went ahead twice thanks to VAR and the home team even lost a penalty kick before they even scored a goal that stood in the 29th minute.

Raphael Varane scored the equaliser before Karim Benzema's brace and a Luka Modric solo finish ensure Real Madrid had the three points in the bag,

 Los Blancos won 4-1 away at Real Valladolid on Sunday night. 

Getafe defeated Huesca 2-1 at home as they extend their lead over Alaves in fifth place, Alaves drew 1-1 at home to Basque neighbours Eibar.

Sevilla stay in sixth after they beat Real Sociedad 5-2, Wissam Ben Yedder scored a second-half trick, while Valencia move up to seventh after a 3-2 win at Girona, with Ferran Torres netting a last minute winner. 

Celta Vigo maintained their spot in the relegation zone following the 1-0 lost to Real Betis, Villarreal defeated Levante 2-0 to boost their chances of survival from the relegation zone.

Athletic Bilbao drew 1-1 with Espanyol in a Friday night mid-table clash.
