LA LIGA WeeK 22 ROUNDUP: Real close on Barca after derby win

Real Madrid put up a superb performance against Atletico Madrid in the derby at the Wanda Metropolitano to win the clash 3-1.

Goals from Casemiro, Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale ensured Real Madrid had a decent outing against their neighbours, though Griezmann found the net for the host.

The derby was marred by some poor decisions by the referee and the VAR team.

The win pushed them to the second spot on the La Liga table as they exchange spot with Atletico Madrid on the La Liga Log.

Barcelona dropped points gain after they failing to get a win in their last three games, having drawn against Valencia in the La Liga, Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey and Athletic Bilbao in the La Liga.

Barcelona was held at San Mames to a goalless draw, though they maintain their lead on top of the table their performances in recent games is something to worry about.

Sevilla was on the verge of losing against Eibar coupled after the going 2-0 down at home to Eibar coupled with the fact that Ever Banega was sent off.

Sevilla fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Eibar,  Wissam Ben Yedder and Pablo Sarabia

 scored in the 88th minute and in the stoppage time respectively to earn a draw for the home team at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Getafe defeated Celta Vigo 3-1 to move to the fifth spot in the La Liga, 

José Bordalás’ were down to 10 men from the 37th minute due to a red card shown to Maxi Gomez but still manage to defeat Celta Vigo with Jaime Mata scoring a brace and Jorge Molina also netting for the home team.

Espanyol beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 thanks to a winner by Sergi Darder five minutes into stoppage time, ending a four-game winless streak in the league.

The result kept Rayo in the relegation zone, one point from safety.

Girona woeful form continues as they extend their winless streak to 13 matches in all competitions after the 2-0 defeat to Huesca at Estadi Montilivi.
