Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o son dropped from Cameroon FIFA U-17 World Cup squad for the forthcoming tournament in Brazil.

The 17-year-old Etienne side was called up to the preliminary squad for the showpiece but the current captain of Real Mallorca U-17 is now set to miss out having failed to make Thomas Libiih's final squad of 21 players after failing to convince the coaching crew he merited a place in the final list.

Eto’o son was not involved in the 2019 Africa U17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania and was hoping to represent the side at the global showpiece, even though he could have represented Spain where he was given birth.

Etienne plus the other five players of Aurel Tiki Joel, Jordan Konango, Bryan Djile Nokoue, Enzo Tchato and Dani Barel Fotso, who ply their trade in Europe for Olympique Lyonnais, Monaco, Saint-Etienne, Montpellier and Roma, respectively will miss the tournament in Brazil.

Cameroon will face Tajikistan, Spain and Argentina after they were drawn in Group E in what will be their second appearance in the competition.
