EPL By: Iseghohi Odianosen | 18/10/2019

Chelsea will host Newcastle on Saturday at the Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, here is the latest information you need to know about the upcoming clash against the Magpies.

TEAM NEWS:

CHELSEA:

The Blues will be without injured N’Golo Kante for the Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United having suffered from another injury while on international duty with France.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic also sustained a knock with Croatia in the Euro qualifiers. Emerson Palmieri, Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are also going to watch from the sidelines due to injury.

NEWCASTLE UNITED:

The Magpies would miss Isaac Hayden, the midfielder was shown a straight red card against Leicester City and he is currently serving a three-match ban as a result of his action.

Matt Ritchie will miss the action against Chelsea due to injury and French defender Florian Lejeune will sit out for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Saturday's encounter will represent the 165th competitive meeting between the two clubs, with Chelsea registering 72 wins in comparison to 53 victories for Newcastle.

Chelsea has come through the majority of the most recent fixtures, recording six triumphs and a draw from their last eight contests.

Newcastle has suffered defeat on each of their last seven visits to Stamford Bridge, a run lasting since their surprise 2-0 success in May 2012.

RECENT FORM

CHELSEA:

Frank Lampard’s men have been in a fine form that saw them record four wins in the space of 11 days, the Blues are keeping up with the big boys in the Premier League.

They have been hit with injury worries but the team has been able to get the needed results to remain competitive this season, though they still need to work hard on their defensive line that exposed Kepa Arrizabalaga most times to concede cheap goals.

NEWCASTLE UNITED:

The Magpies endured a lot of criticism before the appointment of Steve Bruce, though the new manager has not really taken them to where they want to be but they have been able to get some good results.

Newcastle is solid in the midfield but their attack is not so sharp at the moment but their win against Manchester United serves as a motivation for the team to do more.
