Chelsea 7-1 Grimsby: Batshuayi powers Blues to big win

Michy Batshuayi and co powered Chelsea past Grimsby in a 7-1 bashing at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in the EFL Cup.

Chelsea made a good account of themselves in the opening seven minutes with Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi scoring for the Blues as they have the total control of the game in the opening minutes.

Grimsby was able to find the back of the net in the 19th minute via Matthew Green after a huge blunder from Chelsea.

Chelsea dominated the ball possession as Grimsby was made to chase the ball.

Chelsea added the third goal via a penalty after James Hanson fouled in the box and Pedro made no mistake from the penalty spot.

The first half came to an end with a 3-1 lead for the home team.

Chelsea was not done with their goalscoring thirst as Kourt Zouma put the ball in the back of the net with a shot to make it 4-1 for the home team.

Chelsea showed more goal-scoring prowess when ReeceJames fired in a rebound beyond the reach of James McKeown to make it 5-1.

Batshuayi and Hudson-Odoi were on the scoresheet for Chelsea as well as the Blues put seven goals past the Grimsby defence.
