Jamie Carragher has the player who cost Liverpool the Premier League race in 2014, according to report.

The former Reds defender claimed that Luis Suarez was the cause of Liverpool losing the Premier League race to Manchester City.

Carragher believes the controversial Suarez biting incidence with Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in the 2-2 draw at Anfield back in April 2013 was the reason for Liverpool losing the title.

And the 32-year-old Suarez missed the start of Liverpool's title-challenging season due to a ten-match ban handed down to him as a punishment.

The Uruguayan star subsequently missed the first six matches of Liverpool's season, despite going on to win the Premier League Golden Boot award.

"I wasn't aware of any of this but got back into the dressing room and then word comes in that Luis has bit Ivanovic," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"Someone asked him and he denied it. I think on that, that it cost Liverpool the league the next season.

Gullit advice Real Madrid to get former Barcelona manager

"Suarez was banned for five or six games [the following season]. Suarez was the best player by a mile in the league -- he scored almost every game.

"In the first four games he missed, Liverpool lost 1-0 to Southampton and drew at Swansea. They dropped five points.

"If Suarez is playing, they probably win both of them, but let's be conservative, you beat Southampton at home.

"You don't realise at the time, looking back now, and the season he had the next year, Player of the Year, Football Writers' Player of the Year, I think if he'd been playing in those games it would've been different."

Liverpool, managed under Brendan Rodgers at the time, would miss out on the league title to Manchester City by two points.

Suarez would score an incredible 31 times in the league that season and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year for the 2013-14 campaign.

The Uruguay international left Liverpool in 2014 to complete a stunning £65m move to Barcelona.
