Barca vs Sociedad: Team news, predictions & likely lineups

Barcelona will be looking to continue their charge towards the La Liga title when they welcome Real Sociedad to Camp Nou on Saturday night.

As it stands, the Catalan club are nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid at the top of the table, while Sociedad occupy 10th, just five points off the top seven with six rounds of matches left.

Team News

Enersto Valverde almost has a fully-fit squad at the moment, with Rafinha and Thomas Vermaelen the only absentees, while

Gerard Piqué and Luis Suárez are available having missed last week's La Liga stalemate at Huesca due to suspension.

The visitors are deprived of a catalogue of senior players, with former Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj the latest to pick up an injury. He sustained knee damage a fortnight ago, whilst a similar problem has kept fellow wideman Martín Merquelanz out since the beginning of the campaign.

Midfield duo Asier Illarramendi and David Zurutuza both have hamstring issues, whilst defenders Andoni Gorosabel and Kévin Rodrigues have a fractured metatarsal and sprained ankle, respectively.

Head to Head

Barcelona recorded a 2-1 victory when they travelled to Sociedad for the reverse match earlier this season.

As mentioned, Coutinho scored the only goal of the match as Barca ran out 1-0 winners at Camp Nou last term, while the Catalan outfit have been victorious in the last four La Liga meetings between the two sides.

Barca have won 1-0, 3-2, 4-0 and 2-0 in their last four La Liga meetings at Camp Nou.

Recent Form

Barcelona go into the encounter off the back of a sterling string of results, including a convincing double over Premier League side Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Those 3-0 and 1-0 successes sandwiched the draw at Huesca, though the latter is unlikely to have any bearing on the destination of the title.

Sociedad have only been beaten once in their previous five fixtures, with lowly Celta Vigo claiming a 3-1 win following striker Willian José's dismissal minutes after the break.

However, their sole victory in that run came against Real Betis at the beginning of April.

Barcelona possible starting lineup: Ter Stegen; Semedo, Umtiti, Pique, Alba; Alena, Vidal, Arthur; Dembele, L Suarez, Messi

Real Sociedad possible starting lineup: Rulli; Zaldua, Aritz, Llorente, Munoz; Merino, Zubeldia; Oyarzabal, Sangalli, Ramirez; Juanmi

Prediction: Barcelona 4-1 Real Sociedad
