Barcelona zoom into Spanish Super Cup final after 3-2 penalties shoot-out win over Real Sociedad on Wednesday night at the Nuevo Arcangel without Lionel Messi.

Former Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong put the dethroned La Liga Champions ahead in the 39th minutes after Antoine Griezmann crosses to given Ronald Koeman’s side the advantage.

However, Mikel Oyarzaba equalises from the spot for Real Sociedad six minutes after the restart to level things up at 1-1.

The rest of the second half was like a basketball game, with zero control and up and down with both teams attacking and counter-attacking each other while also not really creating huge chances to test the goalkeepers.

But where the scoring ended and the game went to spot-kicks with Ter Stegen saved Real Sociedad’s first two penalties, it was eventually substituted Riqui Puig who converted the winning penalty to secure his side’s place in the Supercopa final.
