Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen makes Napoli stronger, according to Belgium international Dries Mertens.
The former Nigerian youth international scored his first goal for the Azzurri against Atalanta and his impact has been hailed.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Europa League tie against Dutch side Az Alkmaar, Mertens said: “Osimhen gives us depth, we noticed it with Atalanta. Hirving Lozano and him brought the defence away and I was able to touch more balls, but there are also other players. When there is a cross we have more players in the box, this was the weakness of last year.”
However, despite the huge money arrival of Osimhen – the Belgian is still unsure if Napoli is stronger than last season.
“Yes and no,” he said. “We must not forget that we haven’t only signed new players, we’ve also lost some of them. The more we work together, the stronger we become. The most important thing is to work and we are working well, every day we grow.”
Napoli are currently placed fourth on the Serie A log with eighth points after four round of matches.
